Clipping path in Photoshop is a tool that allows the user to mark a certain area or edges around the top of the photograph you want. It is also a vector graph that is user- friendly. The edges of the image are made by using Bezier curves. This helps the user to cut off a portion of the photograph they need very quickly and easily. There are many other ways that can be used to do this, looking at the type of image you want to obtain but the clipping path is easy. Thus, it is important to learn how to use the clipping path. Below, we will be looking at how we can use the clipping path.
To do the clipping path, you will have to first select tools such as Marquee Selection or Lasso tool or Quick selection. After selection of any one of these tools, on the top bar of your photoshop working panel, you will see an icon “Select and Mask”. If you do not see it and find an icon called “Refine Edge”, it is still the same. If you select on the “Select and Mask” icon, then you will find that a new window opens. This window is for dropping the image that you just clipped. You can also use any new image as a background in this and clip the other picture. After you open your desired picture which needs clipping, you will see in the right-hand side that there are different properties shown. There, you will find the very first icon, View. Drop it down and you will see a lot of options in it. You can select any of your preferred one but here, we are going to learn by selecting the Overlay option. After you have selected your overlay option, you will find that your picture turns completely into red. Do not worry and just carry on. You can also decrease the opacity of the redness in the picture. The next step is to select a portion of the image that you want by using the quick selection tool and then you are good to go. You can paste the selected portion in In-Design or create another layer, or put that selected image portion in your desired background.
Image masking as the name suggests is hiding something in the image that you do not want to see anymore. Here, it can actually remove the things that you do not want from your image as well as the color of the portion that you do not want to make visible will be non- dominant. Let us now learn how to use the tool image masking.
First, you need to open an image that you want to work with. After opening the image, you might want to add a layer in the image and select black and white. You will then see that your image has itself turned into black and white and in the layer properties, you will see the box is completely white. So, here is the most important part now. You have to understand that in the box, white means the portion will be shown and black means the portion will be hidden. You can then use the brush tool and with a selection tool, select a portion that you want it to be hidden. With the help of the brush tool, you can select that area and in the properties dialog box, you will find that the area you selected has become black. Thus, now your image masking is complete.
Clipping path and Image masking are both equally important in their own ways. In e-commerce and online marketing, these play a very important role. As we already know that, by using the clipping path, we can extract a certain portion of the image that we want. So, now these images or portions of images that we have in hand can be used in different ways. You can clip them with any kind of background you like and make it look more beautiful and attractive. In this 21st century era, we can see a lot of online shopping and online business being done. Thus, these online businesses can only flourish when one is able to showcase their products in a well- mannered way. Image masking allows one to give a brighter and shinier look to the image without any disturbance or distortion to the image. This is mostly used in the areas of graphic designing, fashion designing, advertisements and many other purposes. It has helped the e- commerce market to different levels today.
Thus, in a nutshell, both clipping path and image masking has helped both the supplier and the customers to easily look and decide whether they want to purchase the product or not and the sellers should definitely know how to present their product well.
